Emerging Professional Committee
Overall Purpose/Mission
Review research and recommend
and/or oversee programming to engage Medical Students, Residents, Post
Graduates, and Candidate Members of AAOS.
Charges
Comply with the Strategic Plan as adopted by the Board of Directors, and ensure that the organization-wide goals of unity and diversity are considered in all activities.
Maintain relationship with and obtain feedback from ARCOS, CORD, and other similar organized programs to in order to recommend programs to AAOS Councils and Committees that will serve the needs of future fellows and associate members.
Oversee Resident Assembly governance and activities as described in the Resident Assembly Policies and Procedures.
Oversee the annual AAOS Resident Bowl, including question creation and approval of rules and guidelines.
Promote communication amongst residents, post graduate fellows and other young professionals through the oversight of the Residents’ Newsletter, and through additional channels.
Recommend career-focused programming available through the AAOS Career Center (online and at the AAOS Annual Meeting).
The Chair and an additional committee member (fellow) will also serve as the Chair of the Resident Assembly Nominating Committee.

Composition
Chair
Six (6) members, of which two (2)
should be Associate Resident Members and two (2) should be Associate Candidate
Members at time of appointment.
Chair will act as liaison to the
Membership Committee.
Term of Office
For chair, two (2) years; eligible for reappointment for one (1) additional two (2) year term.
For members: AAOS Fellows and
Candidate Members, two (2) years; eligible for one (1) additional two (2) year
term; Residents, eligible for one (1), two (2) year term.
NOTE: Appointments and reappointments must be compatible
composition as described above.
